Peer Mentoring
The WiHS Peer Mentoring program launched in 2021 to increase the availability of horizontal or “peer” mentoring for faculty, postdocs, and project scientists. Peer mentoring groups are an opportunity to connect with peers, give and receive support, and brainstorm to overcome obstacles in our research or career path. The organizers use information collected in the survey below to match you to a peer mentoring group. Each group of 4-8 peers meets approximately once per month to give and receive practical advice and support on topics such as career development, grants, resources at UCSD, networking, hiring/mentoring, interpersonal conflicts, and work-life balance. Groups will be provided guidelines for best practices in peer mentoring and will receive occasional updates and check-ins from the program. A group contact will be selected in each group to coordinate scheduling of group meetings. All group members must commit to group confidentiality.
New groups will be launched each January, but members can be added throughout the year. If you are interested to commit at least 1 hour a month to a peer mentoring group, please follow the link to the interest form.
